7 Day England Campervan Itinerary
England in 7 days you say..it is hard too do but we sure give it a try. Check out our Campervan Rental itinerary for 7 day road trip around England including highlights of Bath, Stonhenge, Oxford, York, Manchester, Liverpool and the beautiful Lake District, the locals favourite place to visit.
Day One
Start off in your Spaceship Campervan by driving south and visiting Canterbury Cathedral or alternatively drive towards the white cliffs of Dover. Then travel further along the south coast to Brighton for the night. A different route would take you to Leeds Castle and through the Kent countryside to Battle for Battle abbey before also heading west to Brighton for the night.
Day Two
Drive up through New Forest to Stonehenge and then further northwest to Bath.
Day Three
A morning stroll and breakfast the next morning in Bath before driving up through the picture postcard Cotswolds countryside for Oxford and the famous Oxford University. After spending the afternoon over in Oxford make your way up in your Spaceship to Stratford Upon-Avon for the night.
Day Four
After a quick stroll around Stratford Upon-Avon, hop on the M5 and head up to either Liverpool or Manchester. Liverpool has the Beatles and a lively club scene while Manchester has Coronation Street and fantastic night life. Up to you!
If you’re not staying overnight in either Manchester or Liverpool continue 2 hours further North up the M6 to the Lakes District or you can miss them altogether to spend more time in the countryside. Find a place to stop in either Windermere or Ambleside for the night - both picturesque English towns.
Day Five
Wake up in the early morning and spend the day hiking the Lake District or drive over the fantastic Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater. You can either spend another night in the Lakes district or drive up to Hadrains Wall for the night.
Day Six
If you want to miss Hadrian’s Wall Drive west through the Pennines to the Yorkshire Dales and perhaps an overnight stop in Hawes. Follow on for a quick visit to the Bronte Sisters Haworth before heading for York for the Yorkminster, National Rail Museum. If you are staying at Hadrian’s wall, walk the wall in the morning and then drive South to spend the afternoon in York. In York, you can climb an old castle wall and walk around the town, looking down on the people below and check out some rich history.
Day Seven
Wake up to an early start to the last morning as it is a bit of a motorway day today. Drive South down the A1 and hook up on the M11 heading for Cambridge for the afternoon. Hire a punt, grab a bottle of wine and relax and glide past the banks of the famous Cambridge colleges. Afterwards finish the week by driving all the way down the M11 before taking the M25, then M4 to the drop off point
7 Day England driving itinerary alternative
Day One
Head directly west out of London along the M4. Stop off to visit the Queen’s alternative London home at Windsor. Continue west before exiting (exit 14) and heading south through Hungerford to Stonehenge. Next take the A36 up to the Georgian / Roman Bath Spa town of Bath. You can either stay overnight in Bath or head down to Wells and Cheddar Gorge.
Day Two
After some early morning cheese tasting in Cheddar Gorge perhaps a spot of spelunking in the Wookey Hole might be in order. Then head east and pick up the M5 and head north past Bristol and Gloucestershire to Iron Bridge Gorge- home of the Industrial Revolution.
Day Three
In the morning visit the Iron Bridge Museum before heading North to Liverpool via Shrewsbury and Chester. In Liverpool a must see is the Beatles Museum at Albert Dock. After visiting Liverpool head directly North to the Lakes District to overnight.
Day Four
Time to spend a day in the Lakes District or perhaps take a ride on Lake Windermere or visit the steam boat museum. In the afternoon drive over the magnificent Falkstone Pass and overnight in Ullswater.
Day Five
Up early the next morning as we are heading East across the Pennines, down to Hawes and through the Yorkshire Dales to England’s east coast and the birth place of Captain James Cook- Whitby. Make sure that you stop in at Bishop Auckland for North East England’s Best Chippie- Beedles (2a Oaklea Terrace Bishop Auckland).
Day Six
After awakening in Robin Hood Bay start to head towards York. The highlights of York are the Yorkminster Cathedral and the National Rail Museum. Spend most of the day in York before leaving late afternoon heading through Southern Yorkshire past the remains of the Yorkshire mining industry, across the Humber Bridge and onto Lincoln.
Day Seven
In the morning, visit Lincoln Castle and for the Da Vinci Code Tour in the Lincoln Cathedral. After lunch head directly south to hook up with the M11 and the final stop of Cambridge. After spending the afternoon in Cambridge head down the M11 before hooking up with the M25, towards the M4 to drop off your Spaceship and wave goodbye to a great trip!
