Drive Scotland in 7 Days

Great 7 day Campervan Hire driving itinerary through Scotland, Pack you kilt and enjoy these highlights including Striling castle, Edinburgh, William Wallace, Nessie', Fort William and UK's highest mountain - Ben Nevis. Anyone for Haggis?

Day One
Starting in Edinburgh and heading up west to the Forth Road Bridge to Bannockburn and Stirling Castle. Just a short drive away from here is the William Wallace Memorial. Be sure to check out the size of Willy’s Claymore as it gives an indication to how big he was. Then head east through to St Andrews for a round of golf (have the wallet ready!) in one of the world’s famous golf courses and a walk though the town.

Day Two
Overnight in the Perth area for Scone Castle or after breakfast head straight up to Inverness via the picturesque town of Pitlochory. When in Inverness try to find the Lochness monster on Lochness or visit the Culloden where the last major battle in the UK took place. You can easily spend a day in the Inverness area

Day Three
From Inverness head west to the Isle of Skye along Lochness before heading North to the Isle of Skye.  There are two ways to get there. Both take you through stunning scenery. The more direct round is from the Kyle of Lochalsh over a bridge via the most photographed castle in Scotland. The second and more romantic takes a car ferry from Mellaig. The thirty minute crossing runs 7 times a day from March to October.

Days Four and Five
After spending a couple of days roaming the Isle of Skye, checkout Fort William and the UK’s highest mountain- Ben Nevis. If you have time take a trip to the coastal town of Oban before an overnight in the Glen Coe area.

Day Six and Seven
The final 2 days can be spent getting back to Edinburgh. A Stop at Loch Lomand for a picnic or Arrochar for a drop of Scotland’s favourite tipple- Whiskey would be recommended. There are several options to overnight from either stopping off overnight in Glasgow or head South to the Border Region of Dumfries. Which leads us to the final day, heading West through the Scottish Border region stopping of in Moffat, Peebles and Galashiels to Edinburgh.

At Ullapool head through the stunning Ross County to The Isle of Skye. It’s easy to spend a couple of days here. The Isle of Skye is definitely the place to go sea kayaking or hiking. Just make sure you take plenty of insect repellent for those pesky midges.(mosquitos)

After the Isle of Skye head south to Fort William and Ben Nevis (The UK’s highest mountain) for some serious hill walking before heading to Glen Coe scene of the Brutal massacre of the Mc Donald Clan.

On the last day drop south west through the trossach country to Rob Roy’s grave and a wee spot of Hairy Cow spotting or alternatively drive down the western shore of Loch Lomand before finishing in Edinburgh.
