5 Amazing Roadtrips in April for you
Posted on 16/04/2019 by Mike Salmon
The weather is going to be good, so what better way to spend the long Easter weekend or your holiday this April than a road trip in your very own Spaceship! Here are 5 amazing ideas for your road trip in April.
1. Snowdonia, North Wales
Accessible from all our depots, Snowdonia offers spectacular scenery and activities. Climb Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa in Welsh) – the highest mountain in Wales and England. Easily accessible via the dramatic Llanberis pass and rising above Llanberis, Snowdon is a range of peaks with breathtaking views. You can see Snowdonia, Anglesey, Pembrokeshire and Ireland on a good day.
On your Welsh road trip, you can discover dolphins and seals, go white water rafting or enjoy the historic castles and superb golf courses.
Here is a campsite in Snowdonia with its own micro-brewery - don’t forget to learn some Welsh - Iechyd da, (pronounced Yaki Dar) is Cheers!
2. Belfast, Northern Ireland
The Game of Thrones Touring Exhibition has just opened at The TEC Belfast. Discover Westeros and the lands beyond, then head off on your own GOT Tour. The forests, mountains and moorlands around Northern Ireland transformed into the scenic backdrops for some of Game of Thrones’ most memorable moments. You'll recognise the places where Sansa and Littlefinger travelled to the Eyrie. On the coastal route, you'll discover the locations of Dorne and the Summer Sea.
While you’re there, take in Titanic Belfast, the 2016 World’s Leading Tourist Attraction and take the kids to the Easter Surf Camp at Portrush. Golfers, make sure you book your Spaceship Campervan for the 148th Open Golf Championship at Royal Portrush from 14th – 21st July and see if Rory McIlroy can lift the trophy at his home course.
3. Ben Nevis, Loch Ness & The Cairngorms
Head north from our Edinburgh depot to experience breathtaking Scotland. If the weather’s good, climb Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. Travel north-west and look out for the Loch Ness monster before heading into the Cairngorms National Park. It’s the largest National Park in The British Isles. Follow the trails around Tolmount with its epic scenery and diverse nature, or enjoy some spring sunshine on the shores of Loch Morlich.
If you’ve got any energy left after all that walking, call in at Craggon Outdoors for zip-wires, white water rafting, archery and much more!
4. Join a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt with the National Trust
With over 260 Easter Egg Hunts with the National Trust in the UK, you’re sure to find one on your road trip. With crafts, history, beautiful buildings and gardens and good food, a National Trust property is a great day out.
Spring is the time to see newborn lambs and there are opportunities to meet a wide variety of breeds across the country. You can help with the lambing and feed the new lambs at Wallingham in Northumberland. There is a host of activities for the Easter holidays at National Trust properties all over the country - find out more here.
5. Paris in the Spring
Drive onto a ferry or take a train across the channel. Depending on which route you take, Paris is between 320 and 340 miles away, about an 8-hour trip. You could take in the historic city Rouen, the capital of Normandy on your route.
Check out this campsite near Versailles – it’s a great base to explore Paris. See the sights like the Eiffel Tower, L’Arc de Triomphe, The Louvre and take a Bateaux Mouches cruise on the River Seine.
