Cheap Accommodation for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014

It's not long to go now until Scotland hosts its biggest ever sporting event - the 2014 Commonwealth Games. For those who have been lucky enough to secure tickets the next step is to arrange accommodation.
The city of Glasgow boasts a good range of hotels, but there aren't that many of them. Many of the best hotels will be taken by athletes and delegates. This pushes the price up for all other grades of hotel. At best this can mean your stay is expensive - at worst it means you won't find any accommodation at all.
A cheap accommodation option during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games is to go camping - and of course, hiring a Spaceships Campervan is the best way to camp in style.
There are plenty of good campsites in the Glasgow area and some especially beautiful sites just north of Glasgow in Loch Lomond.
Possibly the best camping option for Glasgow is Craigendmuir Campsite which is just 30 minutes from the centre of Glasgow by public transport. This means you wont need to drive into the busy city centre.
Another option is to camp in Edinburgh. With a wealth of tourist activities, Edinburgh is a perfect base for the Commonwealth Games. It is less than an hour by either train or road from Glasgow so it's easy to get there for the sports events where you have tickets. In Edinburgh we would recommend the Mortonhall Campsite which is situated on the south side if Edinburgh with regular public transport options to the city centre.
Hiring a campervan also gives you the option to head off into the stunning Scottish countryside on the days when you aren't watching the sporting action.
