1 month in Europe, 4 weeks leave, trip of a lifetime or just lucky enough to have a few weeks spare to see iconic European sites and brag to all your friends and family. Here is what we suggest you could do in a campervan hire Europe for a month. Check it out ...
Pick up your Spaceship from the Hayes depot in London and head straight to Dover for the ferry crossing into Calais, France. If you prefer and don’t mind spending a little extra – take the Eurotunnel from Folkstone, Dover. It is quicker and a unique experience under the English Channel.
Day 2 - 4
Head to Paris, the city of love, Eiffel tower, Louvre, Arc De Triomphe and all those Parisians. Spend 2 days here admiring the sites, eating French cheese and delicious baguettes available on every turn.
Day 5 and 6
Head south west towards the Bay of Biscay to the town of Bordeaux, home to the famous wine made since the 8thcentury and UNESCO listed. Here is an opportunity to visit a winery and taste test a few of France’s finest. Take a full day to explore this town.
Day 7 and 8
Keeping along the coastal route of the Bay of Biscay, head to San Sebastian and you have entered Spain! San Sebastian is a beautiful little seaside town with a plethora of restaurants, bars and beautiful beach which can produce surf. Laze away after a long car trip since you left for a day.
Day 9 and 10
Heading from San Sebastian, through Bilbao for a lunchtime stop then a long drive to Porto and Portugal! That’s three countries in 3 days, pretty good huh. It’s now time to relax and wander through Portugal’s second largest city. UNESCO heritage listed, home of Port Wine and with ex-Roman Empire outpost, marvel at the architecture.
Day 11, 12, 13
Drive a short trip today to Lisbon, Portugal’s capital. Now spend 2 days discovering St. George’s castle, Praca de Comercio and Belem Tower – a short tram from the centre, check out some Portuguese pastries at the bakery. You will know which one by the huge line. If you have time take another day to Sintra, awesome castles about 2 hours from Lisbon.
Day 14 and 15
To the beach! – head south along the coast to Lagos, Portugals premier destination for beach and party. Stop along the way on some of Portugals and Europes best beaches.
Head to Seville, just off the coast and back into Spain. Check out the Seville Cathedral and the Alcazar.
Day 17 and 18
Off to the Spanish Capital of Madrid. Here you will find the Royal palace, Plaza Mayor and stand back and watch the Spanish go about daily lives in this busy capital. If you are after more information on Spain check out our Spanish page on this website.
We head to the Mediterranean sea towards Valencia and enjoy some stunning Spanish architecture.
Day 20, 21 and 22
Hug the coast and head North West towards Barcelona. The home of the 1992 summer Olympics is in our opinion in the top 3 must see European cities to visit. On a fabulous stretch of coastline perfect for swimming, make sure you stroll through Las Ramblas, the old Olympic venue and a Sangria on two in a fantastic climate. Check out our European section for more on Barcelona.
Day 23 and 24
Head to Marseille, while still hugging the coastline and back into France. This old seaside port is a fascinating insight into the History of France.
Head back towards Paris with a night stopover in Lyon and another UNESCO world heritage site. Have a wander through the streets known for good shopping and restaurants.
Day 26, 27 and 28
Make your way through the centre of France towards Paris and onto Calais. If you missed out on a winery tour in Bordeaux then here is your chance to go to a winery and taste what some regard as France’s best export – wine! At Calais head onto Dover via ferry and sadly back to our depot.
